Saturday, Jan. 2nd, 9:30am-4:30pm; Antique Show and Sale at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum-Denver, independent lunch and antique shopping at the Brass Armadillo-Wheat Ridge. Now that we've welcomed in the New Year, let's go back in time and celebrate the days of old as we wander through the various aisles of vendors and memories at the restored aircraft hangar at Lowery Field that now houses the Wings Over the Rockies Museum! Assembled under and around the permanent displays of vintage aircraft, the antiques will be on display for sales and for show, and who knows, they may just have the trinket you're looking for! We'll eventually leave "the Wings", and after your independent lunch at a specially selected restaurant, we'll then drive a short distance and find ourselves roving through the many aisles of the famous Brass Armadillo Antique Mall that has over 100 dealers that carry everything from Native American silver jewelry to primitives, collectibles and one-of-a-kind treasures sure to evoke nostalgia in everyone! So invite a friend for a day of memories, history and discovery as we re-visit Yesterday! Activity fee is $29.00 per person for door-to-door ITT transportation only; entrance to the Wings Over the Rockies Museum and sale is $6.00 per person payable at the door, there is no admission fee for the Brass Armadillo and lunch costs are not included. Wednesday, Jan. 6th, 9:00am-4:30pm; "Only for those Sew-and-Sews": a tour of the premiere Quilting, Sewing, Knitting and Fabric shops of the Front Range. If you are creatively blessed with clever hands (or even if you aren't!), join us for a day away as we explore some of the more tempting shops and boutiques dedicated to the textile arts in and around Denver, Boulder and beyond! We'll try and satisfy your need for new techniques, fabrics, wools and ideas within the realm of the sewing circles that will be available at our day's visited destinations and venues----and you just might pick up and/or share some tips with the other "material girls" as we travel from site to site, with an independent lunch along the way! So come for the opportunity to discover new sources, different designs, wonderful hues and patterns……… and come for a great chance to trade hints, ideas and applications with like-minded fans of skeins, threads, bolts and needles! Saturday, January 9th, 7:00am-4:00pm; the Lafayette Oatmeal Festival and Antiques Shopping in Morrison. Whether you have vowed to turn "over a new leaf" and get healthy or you're looking for just the right accent piece for your home, today's destinations will sure to compliment your world! It will be an early start (so bring your favorite commuter cup filled with your favorite "brew"!) as we travel to the always popular and extensive 15th annual Oatmeal Festival in Lafayette. There will be over 220 gallons of oatmeal prepared for your enjoyment (FREE!!), including over 140 different toppings to choose from, in addition to warm, yummy oatmeal pancakes and muffins all spotlighting the delicious tastes and benefits of oatmeal. There will be booths, exhibits and displays dedicated to oatmeal, and you'll even have a chance to visit the Health Fair portion where there will be screenings for blood pressure levels, cardiac and osteoporosis assessments, spinal screenings and more…and did we mention the FREE oatmeal?!? We'll cheer on the finalists of the 5K Walk/Run classic as they end their course at the Festival grounds and we'll revel in the numerous choices and educational opportunities available. After the Festival, we'll then travel southwest to Morrison for our independent exploration and discovery of all of the shops and boutiques amassed along Main Street that are filled with quality antiques and collectibles sure to invoke squeals of delight and memories! So set the alarm, come hungry, bring along some of the "Holiday cash" you received and invite a fellow "explorer" for a day of fun, healthy information and great memories! Activity fee is $26.00 per person for ITT transportation only and the Oatmeal Festival admission is free, although certain activities may have a nominal cost; there is no admission fee for the exploration of Morrison's antique stores. Sunday, Jan. 10th, 10:00am-8:30pm; National Western Stock Show-Denver. This is the granddaddy of them all! Grab your favorite pard'ner, slap on your favorite Stetson and hitch up the team, Gertie…..its Stock Show time! The real cowboys come out to play and it's a great time for all! There'll be livestock shows and competitions, free workshops, Pro Rodeo events and contests, tradeshows, demonstrations, food, music, dancing and FUN all around the fabled stock-show grounds and you'll have a tough time just figuring out what you'll what to do and when! If you're new to the West or are an old hand at it, this will be a day for adventure, discovery and Fun as you shake hands with the traditions and lifestyles that made the West what is today! Make sure you sign-up early because you won't be the only sodbuster itchin' to join us and there are just a limited number of seats available, so call NOW! Saturday, Jan. 16th, 10:30am-6:30pm; independent lunch on the 16th Street Mall followed by the matinee performance of the award-winning musical "Cats" at the Buell Theatre-Denver. Start the New Year off right with a chance to join us for today's treat! We'll drop you off at the many restaurants and cafes to be found on the 16th Street Mall for your independent midday meal, and then we'll pick you up in time to whisk you to the nearby Theatre for the afternoon matinee where you'll become immersed in the time-honored presentation of Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Cats" as it introduces us to the stories and personalities of a pack of junk yard felines, and with names like Grizabella, Rum Tum Tugger, Old Deuteronomy and Munkustrap you just know you'll fall in love with the story and the characters of this fantasy tale that has been "wow-ing" audiences since its debut in London in 1981! You'll be caught up in the music, the costumes, the special effects and the emotional story of these fabled characters. Wednesday, Jan. 20th, 4:30pm-11:30pm; transportation to the 16th Street Mall for an independent dinner and then to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for "An Evening of Stars" presented by the National Ballet of Denver. We'll provide the door-to-door transportation and you enjoy the night festivities! We'll get you up to the 16th Street Mall in time for you to savor your meal at any one of the myriad of restaurants, cafes and bistros located on the Mall, and then we'll make sure you're in place for the 7:30 curtain of the premiere cultural event of the new season, the highly anticipated "An Evening of Stars" brought to you by the Ballet's art directors, the Ballet Academy students and international guest artists. There will be thrilling pirouettes, exquisite leaps and powerful lifts from the greatest moments of the classical ballets of our time all highlighted by the dedicated performers and artists in tonight's show! So reserve your performance seats through any Ticketmaster outlet, and then contact us for transport for this very special evening! Activity fee is only $15.00 per person for the provided transportation only, and let us handle the traffic and parking hassles so that you can enjoy the night's presentation! Saturday, Jan. 23rd, 8:00am-5:30pm; Shopping in Breckenridge and Dog-Sledding. We'll arrive into the center of the village of Breckenridge for an opportunity for an early brunch/lunch and to do a little shopping (and you just might stumble upon one or two sale items!) as you independently discover all the tempting shops, boutiques and eateries available along the riverfront. Once we've satisfied our urges in town, we'll travel a short distance out of town into the high country where we'll have a great time learning how to dog-sled! We'll meet the team of Siberian Huskies (make sure you bring your camera!), learn the basics of sledding and become real Mushers! You'll have the chance to actually "drive the team" along the snow-packed trails and you'll switch off and cheer on the other Mushers as you're transported through the forest and back in time to an earlier form of travel……… an experience you won't soon forget! (Although the shopping requires no particular skill or physical conditioning, the dog-sledding does require the ability and necessary stamina to sustain "running at altitude", so please plan accordingly). Activity fee is $103.00 per person, which only includes door-to-door ITT transportation and the fees for the dog-sledding experience. Saturday, January 24th, 9:30am-5:00pm; the 26th Annual Colorado Indian Market and Southwest Showcase, Denver. Whether you are a serious or a novice collector, or you just appreciate the best of all things Indian, Southwest, Wildlife and Western, then today's destination is for you! The Denver Merchandise Mart has served as home for the Market for the past few years and it is truly "filled to the rafters" during this special presentation. You'll be amazed at the Native ceremonies and pageantry on display including the Grammy Award-winning Brule', the Ehecatl Aztec Dancers and there will be over 300 artisans and crafters at the Market with products ranging from traditional Indian jewelry and pottery to sophisticated paintings and sculpture, not to mention the live musical performers that are slated to appear. From contemporary Southwest fashions to Western décor to traditional crafts, all of these and more will be presented to you only if you join us for today's trip! Activity fee is $26.00 per person for door-to-door transportation, and admission to the Market is $10.00 per person, payable at the door. Deadline for sign-ups is Friday, January 8th.
Sunday, January 31th, 7:15am-4:30pm; the Budweiser Select International Snow Sculpture Championships and shopping in Breckenridge. Bring along your favorite "morning-wake-me-up" beverage and wear warm clothing for the 21st Annual Select International Snow Sculpture Championships competition as it takes over the Victorian town of Breckenridge! There will be as many as seventeen 4-man teams from around the world converging on Breckenridge to "wow" you with their creativity and artistry as they carve awe-inspiring sculptures and designs out of twenty-ton, 12-foot tall blocks of packed snow into intricate pieces of truly inspiring, but temporary art. Using just their imagination, their talents and a very limited number of hand tools, these teams will create intricate sculptures varying from whimsical characters to tableaus reflecting their own country's culture or heritage and more! Once you've marveled at the snow sculptures and discovered if your favorites wound up with the coveted prizes voted on by the elite judges, you'll have time to explore the numerous shops and boutiques of Breckenridge, and perhaps you'll have time to catch a warming meal at any of the restaurants and cafes, too! So come dressed for the weather and make sure to bring your camera as we enjoy a day amid the beauty and creativity of the Snow Sculpture Championship Competition in the High Country! February Trips and Tours Fun, Cultural Enrichment and Memories!
Thursday, Feb.4th 9:00am-4:30pm; celebrating "National Thank a Letter Carrier Day"! You didn't forget today's National holiday, did you? Well, it's not too late as we honor our loyal letter carriers with a day committed to just some of the aspects of written correspondence and its delivery! We'll first travel north for a special guided tour of the US Postal Service Bulk Mail Center near Denver where they process not only all of our parcel post, media mail and periodicals here in Colorado, but also some of the surrounding states, too! Our next stop of the day will be at one of Denver's premiere Stamp and Coin dealers where we'll wander through the displays full of collectible and rare postage stamps from around the world, and this might be a great time to bring one of your own "treasures" to be assessed, too! After a quick lunch along the way, we'll visit some of Denver's finest greeting cards and stationery shops where you can browse the aisles searching for that perfectly crafted writing paper, or spend the time giggling at the hilarious "Happy Birthday" cards on hand, or perhaps you can find that "just right" gift and wrapping paper you've been searching for! Our last stop of the day will be at The Perfect Petal, a great local florist and stationery shop, where you just might discover a cute little potted plant to take home and present to you own neighborhood letter carrier as a way of saying thanks for delivering your own valuable mail! So if you still appreciate receiving and sending written correspondence and packages, and you want to express thanks to our federal swift messengers and the heirs to the concept behind the Pony Express, then this is the trip for you! Saturday, Feb. 6th , 10:30am-6:15pm; independent lunch on the 16th Street Mall followed by the matinee performance of "Legally Blonde-The Musical" at the Buell Theatre at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. We'll arrive at the 16th Street Mall area where you'll be able to choose from the numerous cafes, restaurants and bistros arrayed along the pedestrian mall for your noontime meal, and we'll make sure that you're in your mezzanine-level seats in time for the beginning of the award-winning musical comedy "Legally Blonde"! This fun-loving comedy is chock full of great songs and exhilarating dance numbers as it presents the story of a not-so-ditzy blonde who makes the best of a failed love relationship by shrugging off the stereotype of being "platinum intellectually deficient" and is actually accepted into Harvard Law School! So invite a friend (of any hair color!) and join us a for a great time! The Activity fee is $85.00 per person for ITT transportation and the performance tickets only. Wednesday, Feb. 10th, 4:00pm-11:30pm; dinner and evening performance of "Singing' in the Rain" at the Boulder Dinner Theatre. Chase away those mid-winter blues with a delicious evening meal and the delightful, time-honored songs and dance numbers of the one and only "Singin' in the Rain"! We'll arrive at the theatre in plenty of time to enjoy your scrumptious meal (cost includes salad, yummy fresh baked bread, unlimited coffee, tea or soda and your choice of entrée including beef stroganoff, chicken cordon bleu, herb-crusted cod, or a large Caesar salad….prime rib, roasted half chicken or salmon, wine, beer or desserts are available at an additional cost)! Once we have enjoyed the fine foods and beverages, the lights will go down, the orchestra will begin to play a medley of the musical's songs…..and then the FUN will start! This favorite American musical is full of familiar hits like "Fit as a Fiddle", "Make 'Em Laugh", "Good Morning, Good Morning!" and of course, "Singin' in the Rain"! Saturday, Feb. 13th, 11:00am-10:30pm; independent shopping in Breckenridge and Valentine's Day Dinner Sleigh Ride-Frisco. What better way to celebrate our most favorite romantic holiday than a trip back in time as we "hitch up the horses" and glide across snowy trails as we wind through the forested landscapes towards our ultimate destination, a homemade chuck-wagon dinner set among the towering pines and the grand mountain peaks of the Continental Divide?!? We'll leave from the Academy and arrive into Breckenridge and we'll take a little time to stretch our legs with shopping and/or exploring, then it's on to the trailhead (located just outside of town) where we'll meet our guides and the horse-drawn sleighs that will transport us to the remote campsite for our delicious meal (your choice of steak, chicken or salmon) and all the fixin's, served with a side of live musical entertainment to complete the heart- warming experience! As the campfire dies down after our meal and the show, we'll reluctantly wave goodbye to our hosts and board the sleighs, and with the stars twinkling through the branches overhead and an almost full moon to light our way, we'll travel back to "civilization" with fond memories of our rewarding experience. So invite your closest friends and family, dress warmly for this rustic outdoor adventure and reserve your spaces NOW for this memory that will last a lifetime! Sunday, February 14th, 7:45am-6:00pm; the 13th Annual "Rails in the Rockies" Model Train Show" in Estes Park and a visit to Denver's premiere train shop, Caboose Hobbies. Set your alarms and bring a pillow to nap on the way as we travel north to the town of Estes Park as they celebrate the joys of model railroading! Once we arrive into town, the excitement will grow as we pass through the door and gawk in wonder at the over 15,000 square feet of model railroad scenic layouts displayed in the Conference Center near downtown! There will also be numerous scale models and layouts to ignite the interests of all ages in addition to vendor tables, advice as to how to landscape your own scenic railroad set-up and a chance to talk to other passionate train aficionados! There will be train races and competitions sure to fire up everyone's engines and after we reluctantly wave goodbye to our fellow "train-ers" we'll head back home with a stop along the way at the largest model train store in the country, if not the world, the famous Caboose Hobbies store in Denver! Specializing in all gauges in model railroading including Z, N, Nn3 HO, Hon2,Hon3, G, S, O, and O3 rail to name a few, this amazing store is a veritable play-land for all railroad enthusiasts of all ages, and with their knowledgeable staff on hand to answer any question or concern what more could you ask for!?! So invite your favorite engineer and join us for a rewarding day among the wonderful world of trains of all sizes and shapes! Saturday, Feb. 20th, 10:00am-8:30pm; Spirits and Beer Appreciation Tour. Join us as we continue our quest for the world's most perfect pint of stout, the most eloquent liqueur, the most absolutely awesome absinthe, the rummiest rum and the most luxurious lager on the Front Range! We'll visit the fabulous Leopold Brothers micro-distillery near Aurora and sample some of their seventeen hand-numbered, batch-made products ranging from Blackberry Whiskey to Georgia Peach Liqueur to Single Barrel Dark Rum……and we can't forget about the small batch gins and vodkas, too! After a refreshing midday meal along the way, we'll then dedicate the rest of the trip to the appreciation of the area's best microbreweries and all that they have to offer! We have a dedicated group of aficionados that have joined us on previous "beverage explorations" and they would love to welcome you and a friend on our next trek, but don't delay in reserving your space because the space is limited! Sunday, Feb. 21st, 9:00am-5:30pm, transportation only to the 25th Anniversary Mid-Winter Bluegrass Festival, Northglenn Ramada Plaza-Denver. Calling all fans of the one-true American musical genre known as Bluegrass….you order the tickets and we'll get you there and back safe and sound! This will be the last session of the 3-day Bluegrass Festival event and they're saving the best for last and they want to see you there! Some of the outstanding artists and bands that are scheduled to perform include Bluegrass Patriots, Sons & Brothers, Ron Lynam & Cowtown and Colcannon, to name a few! Now that it has turned a bit blustery here in Colorado in February, and if your idea of heaven is curling up with a great book while munching on a delectable pastry and sipping a hot beverage, why not join us as we endeavor to find the perfect "guilty pleasures" offered within the Denver and Boulder areas on today's trip? We'll start the day fortifying ourselves with a yummy morsel and an invigorating "cuppa" from a specially selected combination bakery/tea/coffee house along the way, and then we'll start our search for our favorite books at some of the premiere used bookstores of the Front Range area including the Boulder Book Store, the Capitol Hill Books, Murder By the Book and of course, the grand dame of bookstores, the Tattered Cover in LoDo! So check your "gotta read this book" and "must have" lists, invite a friend and join us because with our bookstore explorations and our frequent stops for goodies at selected bakeries and bread shops, you'll be feeding both your mind and your body if you're lucky enough to join us on today's tour! We'll arrive at the 16th Street Mall with plenty of time for your independent lunch at any of the numerous cafes, bistros and restaurants located on the Mall, and then you're only a few blocks away from the Complex and we'll make sure you're settled in your mezzanine-level seats for the start of the show! First produced for the stage by the Hong Kong Ballet in 1999, and choreographed by Domy Reiter-Soffer, this family-friendly presentation of the classic fairy tale has not only an all-star cast and an energizing score, its lavish sets and dazzling costumes will keep you enchanted throughout the show!
