Santa Fa Nighttime Bike Ride #2

 

MEETING TIME:          6 p.m.  (5:30 p.m. for Cadets @ the Missile W/ prior arrangements)

 

RETURN TIME:           Around 11 p.m.

ACTIVITY

DESCRIPTION:            Part two will start at the Woodmen Trailhead and travel south through the lights of the city and then the scary darkness of the thick treed woods on its way to Fountain (about 20 miles south). You may see a Ghost, a Bat, a Vampire or just some drunk guy trying to find his way home making strange sounds.  This is a great activity for the whole family. Bring your bike, helmet, and water and a light that will last at least 4 hours. If needed, bikes can be rented from the Outdoor Recreation Center (Call 333-4753), some light may be available to use (first sign-up first served) Activity includes: transportation, guides and snacks. Cadet pick-up possible ½ hour before regular show time at “The Missile” (Call to make arrangements). Meet at the Outdoor Rec. at 6:00p.m. Cost $15 or sign up for Part 1 & 2 for only $25 total!

 

WHAT TO BRING:        Bike, helmet (mandatory), water, camera and a light that will last at least four hours. Front and Dual suspension bikes are available to rent for $20 call 333-4753 to reserve.

 

WHAT TO WEAR:        Apparel appropriate for the sport and dress in layers. Bike gloves and padded shorts can make your ride much more comfortable. Avoid cotton clothing.  Most of all, Dress For The Weather!

 

POSSIBLE RISKS:        Exposure to cold and dehydration. Dress appropriately and drink lots of water.

 

POSSIBLE HAZARDS:    This ride takes place on a four-wheel drive road so oncoming and passing cars are something to watch out for. To stay alert and be able hear traffic we ask that you leave your headsets and radios at home. Bridge crossings, dark tunnels, steep cliffs, and holes are possible. Use caution, stay on the path and following the guide will reduce the possibility for injury. Stay with your guide and stay in control. Be sure to arrive on time for a pre-trip bike inspection.

 

ACTIVITY INCLUDES:   Transportation, SAG support, some lights available, and snacks.
