“Joe’s Hike”

 

MEETING TIME:               7:00 a.m.

TRIP DESCRIPTION:     Join the 10th Services flight chief “Joe” for a hike up Blodgett Peak. Meet at Outdoor Rec. at 7:30 am. It’s a short van ride to the trailhead where your adventure begins. The hike is 3 miles each way and climbs 2500 feet to the peak. Besides the best view of the Air Force Academy, you will get to inspect a C-49J plane wreck from 1943. Hike will take around seven hours. Bring plenty of water, snacks and a camera. Trip has min of 6 and Max of 11 participants. 

 

WHAT TO BRING:        Plenty to drink, sunscreen, insect repellent, hiking poles may help on the decent.

 

WHAT TO WEAR:        Shoes with good support (no brand new shoes) dress in layers,  Most of all, Dress For The Weather!

 

POSSIBLE RISKS:        Be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen to avoid sunburn since you will be outside all day. Lightning strike (vary unlikely). Risk of falling or stumbling on uneven terrain or loose rocks.

 

POSSIBLE HAZARDS:    Over exposure to sun, uneven terrain and loose rocks.
