The Arts and Crafts Center offers a wide variety of classes, services and activities.
Regularly scheduled instructional classes at nominal cost for beginning through advanced skill levels are offered on weekday evenings, Friday afternoons and Saturdays for your convenience. Classes include photography, pottery, stained glass, matting and framing, drawing, painting and woodworking.
Additional classes, such as advanced matting and framing, can be arranged by appointment.
An Artist, Craftsman and Photography contest is held each fall at the Arts and Crafts Center with the winning entries being sent to Air Force-level for further competition.
Professional services offered at the Arts and Crafts Center include matting and framing with museum quality materials and a large selection of mats and frames to choose from. The engraving shop is quite extensive and you can get customized laser engraving on different materials including metal, wood and plastic.
A wide variety of plaques and other engraveable gifts are available for awards, retirements, etc.
The Arts and Crafts Center also has a retail store with stained glass, matting, framing and other top-quality supplies ready for you to purchase.
The Arts and Crafts Center is located on Capps Road just off Community Center Drive in Bldg. 4560.

Auto Shop
333-4752

The Auto Shop operates much as the Arts and Crafts Center, offering a do-it-yourself approach as well as professional auto service. The center is an economical facility designed to save customers money on vehicle repair and maintenance. The many services available include: a state emissions testing station which offers services at very reasonable rates seven days a week, and a large fully equipped garage with 14 work stations (one large enough for an RV!).
There is also a tool crib, two engine rebuild stalls, three lube and oil racks with power lifts, a wheel alignment machine, changing and spin balancing tires and a battery charger.
The professional staff is on hand to offer technical advice and is also ready to do the work if desired. Some of the services offered are inspection of brakes (drum and rotor turning), examination of engine lights, computerized wheel balancing, McPherson strut spring pressing, wheel alignment, computerized engine analysis and air conditioning service. Other services include high performance window tinting, audio/security system installation and professional auto detailing.
Two other services provided by the Auto Shop are the car wash and the lot for used cars. The car wash has four drive-through stalls and vacuum machines are available, too. The lot for used car sales is located near the parking lot. USAFA employees may display their insured vehicles for sale in this lot.

Wood Shop
333-6136

Working with wood is a popular hobby, and the Wood Shop has all the state-of-the-art equipment needed by beginners or experts. Whether you'd like to attempt a major woodworking project or take advantage of the extensive framing program, the Wood Shop has the tools, including a complete tool crib with virtually every hand and power tool you might need, to help you successfully build an heirloom.
The skilled, experience staff will guide and assist you as little or as much as you like.
Red oak can be purchased on-site and other hardwoods can be specially ordered.
A trained instructor is always on hand during operating hours to ensure the safety procedures are being followed.
The Wood Shop offers a free safety class each week. Completion of the safety class is required before patrons may use the equipment. The safety certification is honored at all other military shops, too.
