Transition Assistance Program
The key to success is knowledge of available transitional services and a firm understanding of how to use them. The USAFA Transition Assistance Program is available to provide separating and/or retiring personnel and their families with the skills and knowledge required to make a smooth, well-disciplined, and successful transition to a second career or retirement.
Assessment & Referral
Assess preferences, skills, experiences, education and training. Assist in making career decisions regarding career objectives and financial needs. Identify job opportunities by researching potential employers. Assist with resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing, networking, as well as salary negotiation advice.

Civil Service Class
Learn how to submit a resume, search for positions, and apply for Civil Service employment.
DAV Medical Records Review
Individuals within 180 days of retirement and/or separation who may be filing a disability claim with
the VA can have the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) review their medical records.
Mock Interviewing Workshop
Preparing for your next career move? Feeling a little rusty on interviewing skills? Mock interviewing
with real Human Resource professionals.
Monthly TAP Seminars
This 5-day workshop is conducted every month for those who are preparing to retire or separate. The workshop is open to Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, of all branches of service to include DoD civilians and spouses of either. Attendees are eligible to attend 2 years from retirement date, or 12 months from separation date.
Pre-Separation Counseling
By law all transitioning military personnel are required to receive pre-separation counseling no less than 90 days prior to leaving active duty. This mandatory briefing assists in identifying benefits and services associated with the transition and beyond. However, it is strongly recommend individuals schedule a pre-separation counseling appointment at least 180 days prior to separation, or before attending a TAP seminar.

This workshop provides information for military personnel interested in beginning a second career in
public education as a teacher. Come and learn how you can make the transition.
Individual Career Counseling
Individual counseling tailored to meet your needs. Assistance includes job search strategy development, stress management, resume and cover letter assistance, interview preparation,
salary negotiation advice, and guidance on networking.
Individual Transition Plan (ITP)
A tool to use to complete essential activities for a successful transition. The ITP includes assessment of skills, training goals, time lines, local and national resources, development of a personal network, and other useful information tailored to meet individual needs and wants.
