Update to Aero Club flight plan procedures.
Starting Monday 13 Aug 07 Aero Club local flights will
be treated like local AFS, 557th aircraft.
If Rally is departing on a local flight, the aircraft will radio tower
from the transient ramp and request taxi clearance for a local
flight/departure. This flight will not
be pre-coordinated between the Aero Club and AM like we’ve done in the
past. The Aero Club SOF is responsible
for tracking/flight following these aircraft just like the 557th tracks the
local Talon and Bolt aircraft.
Once again, just like Talon and Bolt flights going
outside the local area (cross country), Rally aircraft will file a DD Form 175
with AM for this type flight. AM will
forward this flight plan information to tower.
When Rally is ready to taxi out they will radio tower and request taxi
clearance for a cross county (Rally must specifically request cross country
departure when communicating with tower) flight/departure. Tower will pass Rally cross country departures
to AM. AM will send a departure message
to the destination tie in facility for flight following. AM will pass inbound cross country flight
plans to tower and tower will relay arrival of the flight to AM so the flight
plan can be closed out.
The Aero Club SOF will track all aero club flights and
should an aircraft become overdue, the SOF will contact AM to initiate normal
search and rescue procedures. This does
not relieve AM of our responsibility to flight follow inbound cross country
flights and initiate search and rescue procedures for aircraft 30 minutes
overdue.
The PIC will close all cross-country flight plans
(outside the local area).
