  4. Auxiliary Fuel Pump Switch - HIGH – For 2 Seconds

  5. Auxiliary Fuel Pump Switch -------------------- RELEASE

  6. Throttle ------------------------- IDLE, then IN ¼ to ½ inch.

  7. Propeller Area ---------------------------------------- CLEAR

(Shout Warning and Clear Area 360°)

  8. Ignition Switch ---------------------------------------- START

(release when engine starts)

If engine fails to start within 10 blades, discontinue cranking and allow starter to cool for two minutes.

  9. Throttle ---------------------------------------------- 1000 RPM

10. Auxiliary Fuel Pump Switch ------ OFF and GUARDED

11. Oil Pressure / Suction ------------------------------- CHECK

HOT ENGINE START

(Release when engine starts)

If engine fails to start within 10 blades, discontinue cranking and allow starter to cool for two minutes.

CAUTION: Retard throttle immediately after engine start to 1000 RPM.

TAXI

 

  1. Obtain Taxi Clearance or announce on CTAF 

  2. Toe Brakes -------------------------------------------- CHECK

  3. Control Surfaces ----------- POSITION (according wind)

  4. Flight Instruments ----------------------------------- CHECK  

 

BEFORE TAKEOFF

 

  1. Parking Brake --------------------------------------------- SET

  2. Throttle ---------------------------------------------- 1800 RPM

  3. Engine Instruments / Suction ---------------------- CHECK

·        Alternator OFF, Check ammeter discharge

             (check right first, 150 max drop / 50 max diff)

  6. Throttle ---------------- IDLE CHECK, THEN 1000 RPM

  7. Seat Belt(s) & Harness ------------------------- FASTENED

  8. Doors & Windows --------------- CLOSED and LOCKED

  9. Flight Instruments--------------------------------------- SET

10. Radios ----------ON and CORRECT FREQUENCY SET

11. Emergency Procedures ---------------------------- REVIEW

TAKE-OFF

 

  1. Obtain take-off clearance or announce on CTAF

  2. Landing Light and Strobe Lights ----------------------- ON

  3. Transponder ----------------------------------------------- ALT

NOTE: Step 2 and 3 when cleared for take-off

 or when beginning take-off roll .

  4. Landing Light ------------------------- OFF after Take-Off

 

NORMAL TAKE-OFF

 

  1. Flaps ------------------------------------------------------------ 0°

  2. Throttle (smoothly) -----------------------------FULL OPEN

  3. RPM (min 2300, max 2700) ------------------------ CHECK

  4. Oil Pressure / Airspeed Indicator ----------------- CHECK

SHORT FIELD TAKE-OFF

  4. RPM (2300) / Oil Pressure ------------------------- CHECK

  8. Climb Speed ------------------------------------------- 71 MPH

            (until all obstacles are cleared, then use

 normal climb or Vx or Vy as required)

SOFT FIELD TAKE-OFF

  2. Brakes --------------------------------------- DO NOT APPLY

  3. Power as necessary to keep rolling.

  4. Elevator Control ------------------------------- FULL BACK

  5. Throttle (smoothly) ---------------------------- FULL OPEN

( when aligned with the runway)

            ( after nose wheel is clear off the ground)

  7. RPM (2300-2700) / Oil Pressure ------------------ CHECK

  9. When airborne level off immediately and accelerate to

      normal climb speed of 100 MPH using ground effect.
